Oh man! I am sitting in an empty, half unpacked flat in Hong Kong, and I really wish you were here to give me some decorating advice. Being in a new city, especially a very foreign one, makes me want to just run to Ikea and be done. You have inspired me to do otherwise. Now I just have to find out where to look. I found the plastic bag company (no joke). Now where could those disco balls be hiding? x

Dude, I know what you mean. I'm sure your fantastic style will triumph, but here's my advice: hit as many thrift stores, garage sales, etc as you can right away. Promise yourself you won't go to Ikea for say, 2 weeks, and in that time make a list of necessary things you can't find anywhere else. Beautiful white paper ball lamps are cheap & easy to find, but where do you get the freakin' socket/cord? Ikea! Send photos! xo

I've lived here for 8 years and still cannot navigate SOMA, Potrero Hill, and parts of the Mission. I get really confused with how the streets curve.

i adore your garland! i'm about to move back into SF from a sunny Vallejo house with my boyfriend. i'm not looking forward to a little apartment, but that garland looks like an amazing way to bring more light in the house!

Leilani- Thank goodness I'm not the only one. Sometimes I fear my pedestrian license will be revoked. I grew up with the grid system, damnit!

Emily- Sunlight is a precious commodity here! I recommend bright creamy white paint (if you're allowed to paint or even if you're not!), lots of mirrors, and lots of lights with fancy daylight bulbs. In my tiny apartment I have 4 of those huge white paper globe lights! Email me when you move here- if I still have some mirror garland left I would be happy to share it with you. Thanks!

P.S. Your blog is rad. Can you have an extra blue tutu made for me?
